CHAPTER ONE
1.0
INTRODUCTION
1.1
BACKGROUND OF
STUDY
Cyber
Café Management is a complete package developed for management of systems in a
cyber café. This project is intended to be used in a Cyber Café. All cyber
cafes have some basic needs likeable to control the systems that are being
rented to the customers and are charged on timely basis.
A Cyber café normally has some number of PC’s which the
customers will for certain amount of time? Now days it may also require to save
some details of the customers for security reasons. When a customer enters a
cyber café he has to be allotted a PC and the start time is noted. At any time
the cyber administrator should be able to see the status of any PC, When the
customer wants to do some other activities like take a print out or scan a copy
etc. It should be recorded. And finally all the details will be available
to the Cyber administrator. And he can submit on the form to generate the bill.
There should be displays of all the transactions taking place in the café.
1.2 STATEMENT AND DEFINITION OF PROBLEMS
The present problems associated with the cyber café
management in federal college of agriculture Ishiagu are:
a.
Time
Accuracy: this phase manages the time assigned to user to avoid
misunderstanding between the café admin and the café users.
b.
Billing: this module should produce bills depending upon the user
activity, Like browsing time, and any other service rendered like printing,
scanning etc.
c.
Allocation
of system: this phase deals with system allocation and management.
d.
Accountability:
this handles the number of users, time assigned, amount billed and user data.
e.
Security:
this handles the security aspect of the system, such as user details and
financial details.
1.3 OBJECTIVE
OF THE STUDY
·
The aim of our project
is to replace the paper works & works done manually and to automate the
existing trend in the cyber café. Be it user creation, their management or bill
generation, everything is computerized. Since the admin job is done
effortlessly and at the same time the customer can enjoy his browsing time
entirely, hence both the user and the owner are at their ease.
·
We have limited the
server and the client into a single system. For real-time purposes we can
extend the software by installing the server components into a single system
and have multiple clients by installing the client components into many
systems. Here multiple clients can interact with the single server at the same
time sending in multiple requests simultaneously.
·
Nowadays Cyber Crime
has increased immensely. So in order to avoid the risk of getting indulged in
any scandals regarding cybercrime we can implement the FINGER PRINTING
Mechanisms in the cyber for the authentication of the clients or customers of
the cyber.
· The acceptance of CREDIT and DEBIT CARDS for the payments can make the software more versatile. Allowing the point of sale concept at the cyber café can be another attractive feature of the system.
1.4 PROJECT SCOPE
This system is intended to be used in a Cyber Café. All cyber cafes have some basic needs likeable to control the systems that are being rented to the customers and are charged on timely basis. This project has a server part which runs on the Admin system. And the Client part which runs on all other systems which are to be rented. The Admin should have control over the usage of the client system.
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY.
The significance of this study is that it
will provide café administrators with maximum security, time efficiency and
time accuracy, billing technique and managerial control over the internet. This
will help provide satisfying network and happy ending to customers.
1.6 LIMITATIONS
This project is designed for a
mini cyber café, covering about 20 computers systems in computer science
department. The design is also restricted to billing, timing and security
management system.
However the following are the
constraints:
·
Time
Constraints: Due
to time constrain the desktop application covers only the billing, timing, cold
generation and user details saving, (limited time in gathering facts)
·
Financial
Constraints: Due
financial constraints café owns in FCAI cannot afford this kind of program.
Therefore, it would cost a lot to develop a full desktop application for cyber
café management system.
·
Insufficient Resources.
Some documents
were considered confidential and were not made available.
1.7 DEFINITIONS OF TERMS
·
Desktop
Application: this is an application developed to run in the desktop
environment. This is not a web base application but it makes use of the
internet.
·
Network:
this is a number of interconnected computers or machine that shares resources.
It is also the communication of system that links computers.
·
Computer
Network: this is a set of computers that are connected and are able to
share/exchange messages.
·
Cyber
café: cyber café is a place which provides internet access to the
public, usually for fee. The fee for using the computer and the internet is
usually charged as a time base rate.
·
System:
Set of computer
components that is, an assembling of hardware, software and peripheral
functioning together.
·
Management: this is the controlling,
coordinating, analyzing and managing of resources efficiently and effectively.
·
Cyber café management: this is the controlling,
coordinating, analyzing and managing of an internet café efficiently and
effectively.
